The New York League of Conservation Voters, one of the premier environmental groups in the state, has endorsed Jonathan. On their website the NYLCV says: "Our 2008 'green' primary slate encompasses congressional and state legislative candidates who have shown their mettle and determination to fight for New York's environment. Please lend them your support during the primary elections on Sept. 9, 2008"
Jonathan has made the creation of jobs through new, clean energy technologies one of the focal points of his campaign and has a long history of working for open-space preservation as a founding member of Stop the Sprawl and as Chair of the Hyde Park Visual Environment Committee.
“I am so proud to have the support of the the League of Conservation Voters - they do such important work,” Jonathan said. “I look forward to working with them in Albany to preserve the natural splendor of the Hudson Valley.”
Jonathan was also recently endorsed by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., noted environmental advocate and son of former New York Senator and U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.
