LaGrange Joins Fishkill and Hyde Park in Endorsing Smith
LaGrange, New York - The LaGrange Democratic Committee endorsed Jonathan Smith for State Assembly in the 102nd district. The committee overwhelmingly voted to endorse Smith who has now won 3 out of the 4 Democratic Town Committees that have endorsed in this race, including Fishkill and Hyde Park.
Jonathan Smith, a lifelong Democrat and community activist, has demonstrated a long and successful history of grassroots organizing in the Hudson Valley. He has worked on numerous local and congressional campaigns including most recently on the staff of John Hall for Congress in 2006 and for Pompey Delafield’s re-election victory in the Town of Hyde Park.
“Jonathan is a great candidate who has been active and involved in the issues that really matter to the people of LaGrange and the Hudson Valley.” said Ed McCormick, Chair of the LaGrange Democratic Committee. “His campaign is a grassroots movement and is about empowering people to fight for progressive solutions to the problems we face. People in this state are hurting from the high cost of healthcare and out-of-control property taxes and we need a high energy champion to truly fight for us in Albany.”
Members of the LaGrange committee noted that the Smith campaign has raised the financial resources and the support in other towns throughout the district necessary to defeat Joel Miller in November.
A longtime member of the committee, Len Marcus stated, “Jonathan Smith is the true agent of reform and progress in this election. The committee felt that he is the best candidate to represent us in Albany next year.”
“I am so proud to have the support of the LaGrange Democratic Committee.” said Smith. “With their help, we will continue to fight for universal healthcare, a shift to a more fair income based system of funding education, and for new green energy solutions which will provide our power while simultaneously creating new local jobs.”
The 102nd District includes the towns of Hyde Park, Clinton, Poughkeepsie, LaGrange, Wappinger, and Fishkill.
